With still 5 players in single figures in the Brownlow betting market, which players put their hand up for votes in Round 17?

Patrick Dangerfield

When he goes big you can just lock three votes away for Danger. By far from his best season – averaging his lowest disposals since joining Geelong, but he has had some monster games and Saturday night was another. Tim Kelly has been the talk of the town, but you can make a case for Danger to poll maximum votes in Rounds 2, 3, 12 and 17. Throw in a handful of 2 voters, and the 2016 Brownlow Medalist is well and truly in contention for his second Charlie.

Nat Fyfe

Talk about past winners, Nat Fyfe was huge in Fremantle’s loss against Hawthorn – the result the only thing potentially deterring away from three votes. Remarkably, he’s still the third favourite with most bookies. We have him polling in 11 games – the next best, a whole swag on 8. But the huge thing in his favour that man can poll! He has the second best votes per game average in the history of the AFL, behind 3-time winner Haydn Bunton. He averages 0.99 votes per game – 0.13 ahead of the next best current player Patrick Dangerfield. So if you think Fyfe may have been pipped by James Worpel on Saturday, perhaps think again.

Patrick Cripps

#TheReturn for one-time Brownlow favourite Patrick Cripps, who is now floating around the $8-$9 mark. The Blues got the win against the Swans, and he was certainly in the best three on the ground. With David Teague at the helm, and the Blues 3-2 since he jumped on board, will we continue to see more wins by Carlton resulting in more votes for P Cripps? The Blues have the Suns on Saturday – I can smell another 3-vote performance, which will see his odds get crunched back in.
