Brownlow Teams - The Value

There were some serious upsets for last year's team votes markets - Cripps and Newcombe won their club votes as outsiders, Dom Sheed won West Coast's without Tim Kelly paying $6 while Tom Mitchell was paying $26 to lead Collingwood's votes without Nick Daicos. Where is the value at in 2024?

Brisbane w/o Neale - Josh Dunkley @ $10

Dunkley had a sneaky good season for the Lions. Last year he was the red-hot favourite to lead Brisbane’s votes without Neale, with Daniher taking the honours at $4.50.

In 2024, Dunkley’s disposals, marks and goals were up, along with his coaches votes, with Dunkley either first of equal-first (without Neale) in six of the 18 counts.

Carlton w/o Cripps & Walsh - Harry McKay @ $7

We will need Dirty Harry to do his work early in the season, and I feel like that's why the big man is marked at this price.

Harry McKay had some big games early in the season, and should be polling in Round 0, potentially in Round 1 and is just about a 3-vote lock in Round 3. Will that be enough to hold on?

Essendon w/o Merrett - Jye Caldwell @ $7.25

Nic Martin is the clear favourite, but Martin did have a lot of low-contested possession games which puts Caldwell into calculations.

Martin's range is between 8-19, while Caldwell is a lot tighter between 5-12. The latter is a nice price here.

Richmond - Shai Bolton @ $6

Once again, another player listed based on what he produced in the second-half of the season which was bugger all.

Shai Bolton had a few strong games early which is all that may be required to lead Richmond's votes. 25 disposals and 2 goals in Richmond's Round 3 win plus 19 and 4 in their 7-point loss in Round 4 - if he can come away with five votes from these games, that might be enough.

St Kilda - Jack Steele @ $6 / Jack Sinclair @ $6

As per our previous article Saint or Sinner which delves into Rowan Marshall's polling history compared to that of the two Jacks, Steele and Sinclair are clear value for the Saints votes.

We still have Marshall favourite for St Kilda, but at $1.90 opposed to $1.25. Steele averages at least 0.72 votes per game over the last four seasons - if he gets close to that, he'll poll around 16 votes.
